Leadership/Governance of Frazier Preparatory Academy
Our design team firmly believes that a contract school governed by an independent Board will best support the Academy’s mission and vision. The structure a local governing board (the Academy Board of Directors) overseeing and holding accountable a school operating authority (MEI) is modeled essentially on the local school council system for regular CPS schools: A body of local citizens with primary experience and devotion to serving local children and families oversees a school’s operation with that interest by an organization of school professionals. An important difference is that the governing board shall have power to dismiss the operating partner, and enlist another, should the school’s goals and expectations not be met in any five year period of a partnership.
Other differences to the Academy’s advantage are in the flexibility of Board membership and operating parameters. As indicated below the governing plan is to have a minimal number of parents eventually seated as essential members of the Academy board, but with no strict requirement of parent membership based on an ideology of parent authority. The structure will mix school parents with others of different perspectives and expertise in directing the school and allow all to learn and gain strength from one another as responsible school directors. Together they will decide general policies and procedures for their own conduct and for school operations, with minimal confinement by general laws or policies.

Ms. Palmer Pratt, our school leader brings a wealth of educational experience to the Academy and will differentiate herself through her management skills and deep understanding of innovative teaching strategies and the Paragon Curriculum. Ms. Pratt works with a world-class staff who serve as role models for their children and exemplars for their peers.
